Improv 101: Intro to Improv (Sundays 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM)

Explore the fundamentals of improv - agreement, commitment, teamwork, spontaneity and listening through fun exercises and group play..

Dates: The class runs Sundays from 01/11/2026 to 03/01/2026, starting 01/11/2026 and running for 8 weeks.

A showcase will be scheduled as an additional opportunity on an evening during the week of March 8.

Instructor: Sam Merz

Sam Merz began her comedy journey in 1988 when the universe decided to unleash her into the world. Since 2019, she’s been learning how to embrace radical vulnerability, silliness, and acceptance through improv by taking classes and performing at the Coalition. She hopes that her teaching style helps those feel comfortable enough to ‘let go’ and support their classmates in ways that feel authentic and liberating, no matter how they choose to use these skills in their lives. Her favorite flavor of La Croix is Limoncello but she prefers Waterloo.

The Coalition Theater is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Once classes begin, all sales are final. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise that prevent you from attending or completing your registered class. While we do our best to accommodate such situations, refunds are awarded only as credit for a future class or shows and are subject to the discretion of The Coalition Theater management. Requests for refunds will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and any decisions regarding refunds will be made at the discretion of the theater.
