North Bay Speech Masters Table Topics Extravaganza Open House Meeting will be held on May 31 @ 10:30 am PDT (GMT-7) online and in-person. The event is free. Refreshments will be served. Practicing impromptu speaking helps people gain confidence so they can find their voice in everyday speaking situations.
What is Table Topics?
During the table topics portion of the meeting we practice speaking extemporaniously without preparation. The Toastmaster will introduce the Topicsmaster, who will give a brief description of Table Topics and then call on respondents at random. The speakers response should express their thoughts clearly and succinctly, lasting one to two minutes.
Learn Speaking Tips Like the One Below
At the meeting, people will learn speaking tips and tricks and strategies for answering questions. One of the tips is remembering the "Rule of 3". Christopher Cox wrote in the July 2017 edition of the Toastmaster magazine, "You can put some structure into your speech by breaking it down into three main points that justify your opinion or reinforce it. (For example, “My best holiday ever was in Tibet, and there are three reasons why.”) You don’t need them all before you start: Instead, you can think of the first point while answering the question, then think of the second point while talking about the first, and so on." At the end, he said, "Finally, keep practicing. The more you do it, the less nervous you’ll become, the easier you’ll find it and the more you’ll enjoy it."
