Impressionism at the Library: Pastels Class for Adults

By Community Libraries of Providence

Overview

Learn Impressionist pastel techniques to create vibrant landscapes from photos with artist Jeneane Lunn.

Classes take place on Thursdays, November 6th through November 20th, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

The class is free and all materials are provided.

Using the techniques of the Impressionist painters, we will learn to make convincing landscape paintings from photographs. Soft pastels are a great medium for creating small studies or finished pieces of work. This class will offer an easy technique for starting pastels that you can develop into your own finished pieces of art. Our focus will be on enhancing our perception of color to create increasingly complex and beautiful layers of color, while recreating some of our favorite landscape places. It is good practice for painting landscapes outside in the spring and summer. I will create a folder of landscape photos, but I think you will enjoy it more if you bring your own photos to work from.

This class is appropriate for adult students of all levels.
