Tovah P. Klein, Ph.D. is Director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development, a psychology professor at Barnard College and author of How Toddlers Thrive: What Parents Can Do Today for Children Ages 2-5 to Plant the Seeds of Lifelong Success (Touchstone/Simon & Schuster, 2014). For nearly three decades Dr. Klein has worked with parents and young children. She lives and breathes toddlers. Her research explores parenting challenges, including work and family; children’s play and emotional processing; sleep and separation; and child trauma. She is an author on dozens of research articles and conference presentations.
Dr. Klein writes for and is frequently quoted in the media: print, TV, radio and web. She has been called the ‘toddler whisperer’ by Good Morning America. She consults worldwide to programs for young children including in NYC, Japan, China and Africa. She is a former developmental adviser to Sesame Street, and on the advisory boards of Room to Grow (NYC), Children’s Museum of Manhattan, Ubuntu Education Fund, PerDev, Hunts Point Alliance for Children and LearnNow.org.
