Event description

Description

Target Audience: all higher education professionals who support learning including lecturers, teachers, researchers, managers, educational technologists, educational developers, professional development tutors, librarians, teaching and learning support teams, etc.

The National Forum Professional Development Framework (2016) was established to structure, focus and support all higher education professionals to engage in their own, on-going professional development. As part of the pilot phase of the framework, a Teachers and Researchers PD 'meitheal' or team was established comprising participants in DkIT, TCD, and UCD. On January 18th, 2018 in Dundalk Institute of Technology, the meitheal will deliver a half-day seminar to showcase and workshop our approach to professional development.

We will consider:

What does PD mean in the context of today's HE environment;

  1. what are some disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches to PD;
  2. what is the role of mentoring and the 'meitheal' in successfully engaging with PD;
  3. what are the best technological tools to capture, gather and showcase evidence of PD in a PD Portfolio.

Our 'meitheal' has had great success and enjoyment engaging in our PD this year. Please join us on the 18th January to learn some practical tips on how to develop your own approach to PD.
