Imagination as Resistance: Closing Gathering
Wednesday, November 20 | 7–9 PM | Sovern LA

Featuring Artists:
Sharon Barnes
Marie-Jose Njoku-Obi
uraeus
Jillian Thompson
Seh-reum Tom
Beth Waldman

Please join us next Thursday evening to celebrate these artists and this body of work curated to hold us tenderly amidst capitalistic and government-fueled disasters, cruelties, and injustice seen and experienced. This body of work imagines post-extractive futures for ourselves and our communities.

Join us as we close Imagination as Resistance with an evening of reflection, poetry, and community. This exhibition has honored art as an act of care, courage, and possibility, and we’ll gather once more in that same spirit.

The night will feature revolutionary words by Alyesha Wise and Matthew Cuban Hernandez, poets whose work speaks to collective liberation and resistance to the systemic harms that impact us all. Both have recently released new books and continue to move audiences through poetry that ignites change and reimagines what’s possible.
