In this class students will explore the surface design possibilities of illustration on clay. Learn the basics of illustration and adornment on ceramic through the ancient Italian technique of sgraffito. Create some basic motifs and patterns to tie your pieces together, and experiment with human figure (if you want!). Participants will work on a piece of slab rolled clay.

This class is open to artists of all experience levels - if you are a ceramicist looking to add sgraffito to your repitoire, this is a great foundation, and if you don't already work in clay but want to try something new, this class is for you too!

This class is taught by Alchemy staff member Cozette Ellis.

This class is held in the ceramics studio in the main art building on the AAC campus. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.

Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.
