Description: The Learning Technology team at Polk State College has developed a Quality Online Course Design Rubric to ensure a standard of quality course design among the growing number of online course offerings at the College. The Quality Course Design Initiative aims to review and designate all courses as quality and to support the State of Florida's initiative to provide quality online education. This webinar will discuss the development process of the Quality Online Course Design Rubric which combines the Essential Standards from the Quality Matters Rubric 6th ed. for Higher Education with the College's internal evaluative instruments, procedures, and guidelines for teaching online and how its application is used by instructional designers and faculty via a Quality Course Review Process.

Learning Outcomes:

Following this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify components that aid in the development of a quality rubric, including but not limited to state requirements, institutional evaluative instruments, and Quality Matters.
  • Determine strategies for the planning and development of a quality rubric that includes stakeholders.
  • Plan methods for applying a quality rubric at their institution.
