Join CMBO Senior Naturalist Scott Barnes for a beginner/intermediate level class on summer pelagic birds, learning to identify 18 species of seabirds that may be encountered off the Mid-Atlantic coast. We’ll cover shearwaters, storm-petrels, jaegers, and terns and how to distinguish these often-similar species. An excellent primer for the 24-hour Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center pelagic on Aug 15-16.

About your instructor: Scott Barnes went on his first pelagic to the Hudson Canyon before he was old enough to drive and has loved seabirds ever since. Scott led on See Life Paulagics pelagic trips for 19 years off New Jersey and Maryland, and has done many offshore birding trips in Washington, California, Mexico, Maine, North Carolina, and Florida.
