If you think blockchain is new, try blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT). In this Ideathon, IoTex and Cartesi team up to make you think about "if-then statements" in possible use cases for everyday life, using both technologies.

This Ideathon is not just for developers, it's open to all. It helps if you have some understanding of blockchain (Web3) and the principles of Internet of Things. We listed some videos below to bring you up to date.

During the course of Dutch Blockchain Week, you have time to ideate and to work solo or together on your use case.

Thursday, Dec 9 we ask you to submit your ideas before 12.00 CET (noon, Amsterdam time)
Public community voting starts at Thursday 12.00 CET. The ideas with the most votes will be curated by our expert jury who’ll help in deciding on the winners.
On the last day of the Dutch Blockchain Week, Friday Dec 10, we will announce the winners in our closing session, which starts at 14.00 CET (Amsterdam time) until max. 15.00 CET.

Ideathon flow

Introduction

We will kick off with an accessible introduction of the technology and how the IoTeX tech and the Cartesi tech work together. Then it's time to get to work!

Ideation

You will ideate a Web3 use case that uses real world data from IoTex's Pebble Tracker and the off-chain computing resources from Cartesi.

Using real-time data, public datasets, and Cartesi's Linux-based blockchain OS, you may design an "if-then statement" that executes a smart contract depending on insights gleaned from the data type of your choice.

Examples

Weather insurance: real-time temperature data from Pebble Tracker is cross-referenced against the 10-year historical average temperature within Cartesi's off-chain compute environment; if the real-time temperature is ever 1 standard dev below the historical average, the weather insurance contract is automatically settled via smart contract

Trusted Trip: real-time GPS data from a vehicle equipped with Pebble Tracker is cross-referenced against public map datasets within Cartesi's off-chain compute environment; if at any time the vehicle enters a toll zone or congestion zone, the vehicle owner is automatically billed for tolls via smart contract

Work together (if you want to)

Over the course of the Dutch Blockchain Week, you can work together with other participants. You will need to organize this yourself but we will open a Telegram group so that you can reach out to each other, ask each other questions, help each other out, etc. If you have burning questions for us, just add a 'burn' icon in your message and we'll try to answer as quickly as we can.

You can also participate as a team of maximum 4 people.

Public voting

On Thursday you will upload your idea as a slide (template provided) and the public voting can begin. The best ideas make it to the jury voting, and the winners will be announced Friday Dec 10 14.00 CET. The winners will be featured on all our social media channels and will receive a Pebble tracker or a Ucam!.
