Riserless Coiled Tubing (RLCT) Services from Light Well Intervention Vessel: Operations on a Live Well
RLWI has numerous advantages compared to riser-based intervention. In the past only wireline and slickline services could be delivered riserlessly. If the well required the use of Coiled Tubing it was almost automatic to switch to riser-based intervention, leading to a significant increase of complexity, operating time, cost and environmental impact. RLCT closes the biggest gap of riserless intervention. It represents a significant step forward for intervention in subsea wells, for production enhancement, well integrity or P&A.
After the first successful Riserless Coiled Tubing (RLCT) operation in a live well, performed in September 2024, the technology has been successfully deployed in a new campaign on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, in water depth of just 72m.
RLCT once again proved its extreme efficiency and flexibility, performing extremely well in these different conditions. This presentation will provide an overview of the technology and will describe in detail the operations performed in the North Sea in 2024 and 2025.
