Join New York Adventure Club as we decode New York City's official seals spanning from 1654 to 1977, which tell a story of cultural, geographical, and political transformation over more than 300 years.

Led by art historian, curator, and educator Cheryl McGinnis, our unique experience will include:

• A look at the geological origins of New York, beginning with the breakup of Pangaea and the formation of the Hudson River
• Insights into the Lenni-Lenape culture, examining their stewardship of the land and their enduring legacy
• A study of the Dutch and British colonial periods, highlighting how colonization influenced the region's development
• An analysis of the evolution of New York's seals, interpreting the symbolism and changes from 1654 to 1977
• A discussion on the interplay of geology, anthropology, biology, and technology in shaping New York's identity
