“Ibrahim: A Fate to Define” Screening + Post-film discussion + Gazan art, poetry and food + Fundraiser

Join us at Inusual Project (Carrer de la Paloma, 5, 08001 Barcelona) on Monday, 17 November 2025, at 7:30pm for a special screening of the documentary Ibrahim: A Fate to Define (2019). We will have on display works by Gazan artists from the collective Every Tomorrow I Remember. 100% of proceeds from ticket sales (+ any additional donations) will go directly to support Gazan artists.

After the film, there will be a short discussion and poetry reading. There is also the option (for an additional €10 per person) to have a delicious home-made Palestinian dinner at the venue after the film. Asma, a Gazan cook, will be on-site serving her vegetarian tagine (peas, carrot and potatoes with fresh tomatoes) with white rice. It is vegan, nut free, and gluten free. You can follow Gazzawi Cuisine, Asma’s Barcelona-based food project, here: https://www.instagram.com/gazzawi.cuisine

About the film:

Ibrahim: A Fate to Define is a 2019 documentary film directed by Lina Al Abed and written by Lina Al Abed and Rami Nihawi.

Ibrahim, the director’s father, left home one day in 1987 and never returned. Lina was six years old. Ibrahim Al Abed was a secret agent for the Abu Nidal group, a Palestinian military faction that sought a more peaceful approach to the conflict with Israel.

Without knowing her father's fate, Lina grew up in a house where silence was the norm. Through the testimonies of family members, Lina tries to construct a narrative of her family and how her father’s absence has affected her, both emotionally and professionally.

74 minutes | Arabic with English subtitles

About Every Tomorrow I Remember:

This screening and exhibition is part of an effort to raise funds for Gazan artists from Every Tomorrow I Remember, a decentralised collective dedicated to sharing Palestinian stories through art, film, publications and design. Many of the artists have been forced to evacuate, while many – along with their families – remain in Gaza.

Artworks, photography and poetry books created by the artists will be on display at the venue. After the screening, there will be the opportunity to purchase these (via cash or bizum).

Your contribution (through ticket purchase, artwork/book purchase or an additional donation) helps the artists from the Every Tomorrow I Remember collective sustain their work and creative expression. In the context of genocide and oppression, where art could easily be dismissed as unnecessary, reclaiming art is an act of resistance.

About the organisers:

The Big Picture is a community initiative based in Barcelona that explores global and social issues, and how they connect to our everyday lives.

Each event includes a screening or artistic presentation, followed by a discussion to share reflections and brainstorm tangible ways we can take action – from boycotting and donating, to amplifying voices and rethinking our daily choices.

Our aim is to stay informed and inspired – using art and dialogue as tools for collective change.
