About the exhibition:

How do I create a future that makes room for the moments that move me, the moments I want more of? I decided to start at home by redesigning my living room to do just that.

My living room turned record store is a sanctuary where I use music as a tool for connection and exploration, a physical reminder that I have access to my joys and curiosities. It’s where music is understood as the center of moments I first had on dance floors of all hours, and in record stores across the world. Moments where I feel most like myself, most connected, optimistic, inspired, energized, curious, the list goes on.

Clubfriends Radio & Records is a personal project where I celebrate and explore these music-centric moments to create new ones, off the dance floor and beyond nightlife. It’s where I host live performances with integrated artist conversations and listening parties that build connectivity through physical media. It’s also where I host guests for my PhillyCAM TV show, talking to local artists and cultural contributors who move me, and discussing the moments that move them.

My home is your home. Take off your shoes, immerse yourself in my moments, and reflect on your own. There are postcards on the coffee table for you to write down what moves you, in this moment or another. Take it into your future and design a life where they are celebrated and explored. Your living room might be a good place to start.

Here are a few things to support your movement in the space:

  • Two Phillips Walkmans for private listening
  • Silent pod for private or group listening (CD only)
  • Turntable and headphones for private listening (Vinyl only)
  • Headphones for you to plug into a live DJ set in store
  • Selection of magazines and books

*Clubfriends is a substance free space, please respect that.

Jordan Plain, fellow emerging artists and mural arts fellow will be feautured in the space as well. We collaborated on a few digital designed to integrate our installations.

Plain's SIGNS: DESIGN AS ART will be a layered multimedia project that blurs and tightens the lines between design and art. They will be using my project SIGNS which is a public art poster project as a basis for the work that is made for DESIGN AS ART. Art from previous posters will be turned into different applications of design. The art and poetry will be applied to different media to showcase that design is art and vice versa.
