I Love You but I Hate Your Politics
Overview
Doors open: 5:30PM
Program Begins: 6:00PM
Reception: Immediately Following Programming
American Public Square and Church of the Resurrection present a timely, plain-spoken conversation about staying connected when our beliefs collide. Rev. Adam Hamilton moderates a candid dialogue with a couple with different beliefs who have grown together— psychotherapist and author Dr. Jeanne Safer and her husband, historian and writer Richard Brookhiser. Drawing from Safer’s book I Love You, But I Hate Your Politics, the program looks beyond romantic partnerships to the full spectrum of relationships: family, friends, coworkers, and community. Together, they’ll explore how to stay curious instead of combative, how to navigate political disagreements without detonating trust, and what it takes to preserve the relationships we can’t afford to lose.
