HTBAF: Asking for Help as an Act of Resistance

By Open Source Gallery

Overview

How to Build a Fire is a monthly community storytelling series. In November, we will also be participating in Fall of Freedom. Join us!

When: Friday, November 21, 7-9pm
Where: Open Source Gallery (306 17th St., Brooklyn, 11215)

At first glance, asking for help might not seem like a revolutionary act. But in a culture that prizes self-sufficiency and individual achievement (oops, fascism loves that too), reaching out for support, care, and collaboration becomes a radical form of defiance.

This November, we invite storytellers to explore the moments when vulnerability became strength: when we leaned on others, asked for what we needed, or even just accepted care. Even if it was a little begrudgingly!

Our stories will celebrate interdependence that comes from within because it's build from within.

Stay tuned to learn about the storytellers for this event!
