8th Grade and High School Students are invited to join the HSU Educational Foundation for the HSUWerx Advanced Robotics series. This HSUWerx South group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays (meetings will increase during build season) from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the HSU Innovation Institute South location - 709 Anchors Street FWB. Participants are encouraged to come as often as they are able throughout the year.
The program will help students practice the engineering design process through several hands on projects. HSUWerx South will learn simple to complex electrical, autonomous and CAD principles. The group will have the opportunity to participate in up to three hands-on advanced robotics projects throughout the year.
- FIRST Robotics Competition Team - Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting competition.
Thank you to the HSU Educational Foundation Stakeholders making this program possible: Florida Power and Light, Boeing, Air Force Research Lab, and Step One Automotive Group!
