Many times, an employee who does an outstanding job in their role is promoted to supervisor. But being a supervisor is very different from being an individual contributor. You are now responsible for motivating, mentoring, and managing others. You have interpersonal issues to help resolve, training to provide, and disciplinary problems to address. Many organizations don’t provide enough (or any) training for their new supervisors to help them succeed in this new and more demanding role.
HR 101 is designed to help you learn the things you need to know to make the transition from employee to supervisor. This course will help you understand the alphabet soup of employment laws and HR programs that you will now be responsible for administering, including ADA, ADAAA, FMLA, STD, LTD, PIP, EEOC, etc. The goal of this course is to help you understand your responsibilities as a supervisor in complying with these laws and regulations.
