This information session will help you to start a river campaigning group, from establishing your purpose, finding members, deciding the right type of group for you, what you need in place, and planning next steps. This is intended for anyone interested in setting up a group to campaign for their local river in England and Wales, whether you're an individual or a small group looking to get started.
Here at River Action we've taken the learning from river campaigners across the country and put it all in one resource for you to use to build your campaign to rescue your local river: The River Rescue Kit.
Whether you want to raise awareness, test for turds, or pressure a polluter – acting as part of a group can amplify your impact. This information session will help you to learn how to get that idea off the ground, find like-minded people in your area, and work together to form an effective campaigning group.
Eligibility: This training is free and open to anyone who is interested in forming a campaigning group, particularly in England and Wales. Others in the UK will still find lots of the information helpful. Aspects relating to charity status and governance structure may differ outside England and Wales though.

Speaker: This session will be run by Drew Richardson from River Action. Drew comes from an extensive career in the charity sector where he has advised 100s of community groups and charities, from beginners getting started to household-name nationals, on growing their groups, governance good practice, and harnessing the collective power of communities.
