How to Show Respect With Curiosity
Overview
We’re often taught the Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. But what happens when you genuinely believe you’re doing the right thing yet people still say they don’t feel respected?
Many professionals hear complaints about “disrespect” without clear guidance on what to do differently. Others feel caught between honoring their own values and constantly adjusting to meet others’ expectations. This tension can be exhausting, confusing, and discouraging.
This mini-workshop explores respect as relative, not fixed. Based on Dr. Julie Pham’s book 7 Forms of Respect®, you’ll examine how people define and experience respect differently—and how curiosity helps you navigate those differences without losing yourself in the process.
You’ll explore:
- Why respect is not one-size-fits-all
- How curiosity helps surface unspoken expectations around respect
- Practical ways to clarify what respect looks like while honoring your own boundaries
Ideal for managers navigating diverse teams and professionals seeking realistic, nuanced tools for building respectful relationships at work.
*This is part of our Curiosity in Practice mini workshop Series to help people elevate their communication skills in work and life.
