About the Free Art School
The Free Art School is a series of creative sessions run by Artist-Led St Helens, where we get together to share the stuff that helps artists actually get by. It’s about learning the behind-the-scenes bits (things like writing proposals, planning events, getting paid, or finding funding) without any jargon or pressure. Led by Claire Weetman and Gee Collins, it’s all based on the idea that everyone’s got something to teach and something to learn.
Where relevant, we will add key learning points from these sessions to the Artist-Led St Helens Wiki page, so that the information is freely available in future.
There are a maximum of 8 places available on each session.
This Session:
How to share your creative ideas - proposal writing and talking to venues.
How can you communicate your idea to someone who can support that creative idea?
What does a commissioner, a potential venue or a funding partner want to know?
We’ll use our ‘Talking to Venues’ chapter in the Artist’s Toolkit as a starting point for a session that helps you take your ideas from your brain to reality.
Suitable for visual artists, performers, writers, illustrators and other creatives with ideas they want to get out there.
