By Press Pass NYC Presents
Online event
Overview
Learn how to ask questions of a local politician so you can tell your school community how well they represent the interests of students.
Our elected officials make decisions each day that affect our lives. They negotiate how much money to give our schools and parks and monitor the effectiveness of agencies such as the NYPD. A reporter’s job is to make sure they’re doing what they were elected to do.
In this third session of our Jim Dwyer Journalism Workshop series, you’ll learn how to ask questions of a local politician so you can tell your school community how well they represent the interests of students.
Speakers:
Columbia Professor Basil Smikle, a former political strategist who’s often on MSNBC
Brigid Bergin, NYC/Gothamist Senior Politics Reporter
