This course is designed for the clinician who is a COTA or Special Educator that wishes to provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy to the babies that are mandated for early intervention ABA services. There is an abundant need for these children to receive this specific type of therapy, and the good news is that COTAs, Special Education Instructors, OTs, PTs, Speech Pathologists, and Social Workers can all provide the therapy as ABA Providers; under the NYC Early Intervention Program.

This course will be an intensive 3-hour, hands-on workshop consisting of how to develop activities derived from the child’s IFSP, while still using the COTA and Special Education skill sets. It will also include how to collect data to mark progress or make program changes. Videos, group discussion, and demonstration will be used by the presenter. Knowledge gained can be utilized immediately upon accepting ABA cases from Therapeutic Resources. Since ABA cases are typically 0-20 hours per week, clinicians can easily structure a full-time workload of their choice.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will learn how to:

-Develop activities derived from the child’s IFSP

-Collect data to make progress using ABA methods

-Utilize functional activities to illicit appropriate responses

-Reward, praise, and guide a child’s appropriate responses using ABA strategies of fading, backward chaining, and other proven methods.
