Heather Lyne

Director of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems

1717 Collective | Greater RVA | Entrepreneurial Ecosystems

Heather Lyne has designed, funded, and implemented community and economic development projects and large festivals in Virginia, Colorado, and abroad with a focus on creative mechanisms for community change. Heather follows the principles of the asset-based movement which, simply put, proposes building on “what’s strong” within a community or business instead of fixating on “what’s wrong." Virginia Business named her one of the “Top 100 People to Meet in Business in 2023” and Richmond’s Style Weekly included her in their 2024 “Top 40 Under 40” list. Heather received a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Georgia and a Master’s in Public and International Affairs (MPIA) from Virginia Tech.

As one of NAWBO's "Top 10 Chapters," NAWBO Richmond takes pride in its commitment to leadership, education, and encouragement of women-owned businesses in and around the Richmond region. NAWBO Richmond's strength comes from the diversity of its membership—women from all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.

NAWBO features chapters in almost every metropolitan area in the United States, including the Richmond Chapter. NAWBO Richmond was founded in 1982 by a group of like-minded women who understood the need for an association that would support the growth of women-owned business in the metropolitan area.

Through events such as the Enterprising Women of Excellence Awards and monthly meetings, NAWBO Richmond Virginia are designed to:

  • Create business opportunities within the community
  • Build strategic alliances through partnerships and networking
  • Educate the public about women-owned businesses
  • Influence public policy, presenting a unified front
  • Promote leadership within the civic and business communities
