Description

For all the ladies struggling with how to be "less threatening" - this book launch party is for you! Sorry for shouting!

Come celebrate the launch for satirical book How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men's Feelings with author Sarah Cooper and some of the city's best comedians. The book is a sarcastic takedown of all the things women are expected to do in order to succeed without harming the fragile male ego. A fireside chat, discussing the impossible rules of what to wear, when to smile, when to apologize (always), gaslighting, dealing with harassment, and more, will be followed by a standup comedy show headlined by Cory Kahaney. Tickets include a free signed book, giveaways, and an evening of ha ha ha ahems.

6pm: Meet & greet & take pictures with fake mustaches

6:30: Fireside chat with author Caitlin Kunkel (New Erotica for Feminists) followed by audience Q&A.

7:30: Book signing

More about the book:

Ambitious women are scary. In this fast-paced business world, female leaders need to make sure they're not perceived as pushy, aggressive, or competent. In How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men's Feelings, Sarah Cooper, author of the bestselling 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings, illustrates how women can achieve their dreams, succeed in their careers, and become leaders, without harming the fragile male ego.

Chapters include, among others, "9 Non-threatening Leadership Strategies for Women," "Gaslighting for Beginners," and "How to Be Harassed Without Hurting His Career". It even includes several pages to doodle on while men finish what they're saying. Each chapter also features an exercise with a set of "inaction items" designed to challenge women to be less challenging.

And, when all else fails, a set of wearable mustaches is included to allow women to seem more man-like. This will cancel out any need to change their leadership style. In fact, it may even lead to a quick promotion!
