About this event
A great manager believes in your potential and creates opportunities for you to improve and develop, offering feedback and support. Research overwhelming concludes that a coaching-style of manager enables better performance and engagement.
Whether you’re new to line-management or looking to refine how your work with others, this course offers you some practical tools to become the kind of manager you’d love to have yourself!
Through a highly interactive training style, we’ll help you develop core skills that underpin the Manager as Coach model and explore how to apply coaching-based models to your own real-life situations.
Topics we’ll cover include:
- How to set clear expectations around roles, working style and high standards
- How to enable people to think for themselves and generate better ideas
- What a coaching approach to managing people looks like in practice and when it can be helpful
- How to give feedback that motivates and improves performance
The course had been devised and is delivered by two coaches with experience of managing people, Isabel Mortimer and Claire Antrobus. Claire and Isabel have run in-house courses for many larger arts organisations including National Theatre, Arts Council England, Leeds Playhouse, Liverpool Biennial, Paraorchestra, South Bank Centre, Tate and Royal Opera House. They also both regularly contribute to Clore Leadership programme courses.
"Claire & Isabel really are the dynamic duo of coaching culture! Their workshop was stimulating, interactive and fun. From learning about various leadership styles to reflecting on your own, the workshop gave me opportunities to lidentify the actions I need to take to be a better manager. The tools provided are a really useful and the learnings will certainly stay with me in the long term. Thank you!” Bhuvan A Sharma, CEO WAC Arts.
