How to Be a Good Listener (and Other Dangerous Listening Myths)
Overview
The Positive Communication Network is proud to present our PosComm Workshop Series -- practical training designed by experts for your everyday life.
Our December 5th event, "How to be a good listener (and other dangerous listening myths)," will feature Dr. Graham Bodie, internationally recognized expert on listening and Professor of Communication at the University of Mississippi.
Most of us think we know how to listen well: stay quiet, nod, repeat what we heard. But real listening is harder, and much more powerful, than what you'll find from a simple Google search. This session seeks to uncover the hidden traps behind some of the most common advice about listening. We'll explore what the research actually says and how shifting our listening habits can open the door to stronger relationships, better leadership, and deeper understanding.
In this workshop, you will learn to:
- Challenge misconceptions about listening.
- Appreciate new findings on deep listening.
- Practice ways to listen more deeply.
By attending, you'll expand your communication skills and develop more meaningful moments of connection.
