We are continually bombarded by the reality that our data, our networks, our devices and our identity are under constant scrutiny and threat of theft. The Cyber attacks have become so commonplace that we have built up an immunity to its danger. Ransomware has become the dominate threat to all sizes of institutions, especially municipalities and healthcare institutions. The persistence and innovation of the cyber terrorists has captured the focus of organizations around the globe. And while the efforts to block these attacks is appropriately focused on the prevention, nonetheless attacks succeed. Just as business continuity has evolved into a multi-prong, integrated prevention and response to threats, so must cyber-resilience become the means by which we attack the entire cyber risk landscape.

This session will identify these threats, presenting actual cases and their consequences. It will also present the latest attempts to structure a prevention/response that is analogous to the evolution of business continuity management as the umbrella for reducing incidents and consequences of disruptions. The session will demonstrate the uniqueness of cyber attacks and also the process to integrate responses with existing processes

Speaker BIO

Al is an MBCP, CCRP (Certified Cyber Resilience Professional) Chairman of the Board for Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRI International) and President of the DRI Foundation.

During his career he has been President of Major US Bank Subsidiary, CIO for a Major Trust Company, National Practice Leader for Operational Resiliency (PricewaterhouseCoopers), Global Business Continuity Management practice leader (Marsh) and Program Director for BCM for a Major Healthcare organization.

He has served on Homeland Security Standards Panel, US congressional committee Project for National Security Reform, ANSI-ANAB Council of Experts, NYC Partnership for Risk Management and Security, and Chair for the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation committee to create the new standard for the US Private Sector Preparedness Act (PS-Prep). He has worked with governments in the US, Middle East, Latin America and Asia to create standards and regulations.

His career in cyber security spans 4 decades from being part of a US government tiger team vested with the responsibility of finding floors in networks and systems, to creating security systems used by IBM and other major system’s developers, to serving on government committees and he serves as an advisers to companies and governments around the world on such issues as; resilience, business continuity, disaster recovery, geopolitical risk and cyber security. His articles and interviews have been on TV, radio, printed media and on-line publications around the world.
