Overview

Join Kate Bailey to learn how smart laws are transforming the world of plastics recycling!

Governments around the globe—from local town boards to the United Nations—are searching for solutions to reduce plastic pollution. Better plastics recycling is an essential step, but the U.S. recycling system is underfunded, inefficient, and confusing. That’s where smart public policy comes in.

The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) work with lawmakers at the US state and federal levels, in Canada, and through the United Nations’ Global Plastics Treaty. We’ll break down what policies are needed, where solutions are being adopted, and why policymakers don’t always get it right.

BIO: Kate Bailey is the Chief Policy Officer for the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), the only North American organization focused exclusively on improving the recycling of plastics. Kate leads APR’s advocacy at state, federal, and global levels. She has successfully worked with governments, consumer goods companies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to pass several leading policies to improve recycling, including Colorado’s EPR for Packaging program.
