About this event
The Chicago Poetry Center Board invites you to join us at Bigger Table: Write & Give Back - a thematic writing fundraiser series to support poetry programming at Chicago Public Schools.
Theme: The theme for the workshop for this workshop will be How Many Versions? This iterative writing, revision & sharing space is open & suitable for writers / literary humans of all levels. All you need to have is a poem / art piece (or a seed of one). In this space, we will run through ~3 or more exercises to create multiple versions of the same piece.
What you need to get: You could bring a piece that you feel stuck with, that you're most excited about revising but can't figure out where to start, or one that feels unfinished!
Format: We will have a facilitated discussion with writing tools & literary material around the theme. Following which the facilitators will guide the group through individual writing time with prompts and formats. We will have space through this workshop & at the end for individuals to share what they wrote/share some reflections from the session (optional).
Note: The material & link to attend will be shared as a PDF with all participants via email.
Group Size: ~20 participants
Date & Time: September 13th (Saturday), 10 am to 12 pm CST
Host: This will be co-hosted & facilitated by Shivani Gupta, the Development Committee Chair at the Chicago Poetry Center.
Guideline: Come as you are for a gentle writing, revision, discussion & sharing space. Know that your presence & contribution directly support poetry programming for students in Chicago Public Schools. We can’t wait to meet you!
Registration: You can sign up for the workshop by donation, with a suggested sliding scale of 5-15$. If price is a barrier, please email shivani@poetrycenter.org for a no-questions-asked fee waiver.
Fundraising Goal: Our fundraising goal from this series is $2,500 to together SPONSOR ONE CLASSROOM.
