About this event

How do we make space for grief in the workplace?

When: Saturday, August 20th, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm EDT

What have we ‘put up with’ or become resigned to in the workplace….making us yearn for what we hoped for, that has never been attained?

This Grieving and Thriving series is looking at what we need to grieve in order to thrive. This inquiry started over ten years ago at a global conference, and has begun a series of dialogs and conversations.

We invite you to join the conversation, to bring awareness of unaddressed grief into the daylight hours of our workplaces - to face what we need to release and let go of. We believe that can only happen when we find our capacity to truly face and honor that which we have lost, or which has stopped working.

Our most creative emotions and capabilities demand our ability to feel everything. Imagine if we could unleash that creativity in the places we inhabit during our work-days? To truly feel, to stand for our commitments with integrity, and to dream to new heights? What must we acknowledge and sorrow for, to create space to allow this to happen?

How can we create a community of adults that have the capacity to hold deep feeling, shifting the onus of leadership? In this renewal of leadership, work is less about control…creating a culture where full and authentic expression is welcome.

This is an invitation for people from all spheres to be fully present and go deeper into the theme of grieving and thriving in our work. This event is an opportunity to find others, across the globe, who are passionate about this topic.

You can attend this event from exactly where you are. We will gather online in a virtual circle, to welcome everyone who is interested in this conversation, inviting in what is emerging.

How This Exploration will be Facilitated

Our first hour will include a series of stories about grief in the workplace, followed by Open Space Technology. Inspired by the First Nations’ traditions, Open Space Technology offers a lot of freedom of action and expression to participants. The agenda is created on the spot, according to the topics you are passionate about. The day goes on at the rhythm of discussion circles which are created and then dissolved. Open Space Technology is a powerful co-creation tool which allows us to explore all possibilities and initiate a flow of actions like no other!
