Event description

Description

The dark-side of today’s ubiquitous connectivity is that information and opinion proliferate based on popularity, not accuracy, and privacy and data-ownership has become the new battleground. In this world, brand narratives are owned by the populace, and any corporate digression (true or rumored) is amplified through social media and related platforms. This new reality makes trust and reputation the strategic issues of our time and will force organizations to find more authentic and impactful ways to engage with their communities and customers.

Join us to explore the business opportunities presented by this post-truth world. Specifically, we will discuss:

  • When corporations arguably wield more influence over society than nation states, do companies have a moral obligation to act in ways that are good for our communities? Where does this obligation start and end?
  • What role do Marketing and CSR/Community Investment play in building companies’ relevance and reputation in this post-truth world?
  • What opportunities exist to create shared value―commercial success and social impact―by aligning business strategy, brand and community investment?
  • How can collaboration help consumers and communities “check their cynicism” and allow companies to act in purpose-driven ways?

WHEN: Thursday, May 10, 2018, 7:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

WHERE: Canoe Restaurant, East Room, 54th Floor, 66 Wellington Ave. W, Toronto
