This 90 min webinar covers the basic principles of trauma-informed care so we act with more compassionate awareness in our daily lives.
About this event
Can you imagine a world where all we have been through, all the traumas we've accumulated, all the sorrow we've processed is honored with reverence and respect? If people just treated one another with a little more kindness and humility instead of dismissing each other as invisible, shameful or damaged?
I believe we can make that world happen!
With a cultural commitment to a) recognizing trauma (in ourselves and others) and b) reducing the trauma we add to the world around us we can get so much closer to the vision of a more just, loving and sustainable world.
We have been called to be leaders who embrace genuine vulnerability, radical authenticity and compassionate truth telling. As a heart-centered leader I believe that the key to our future lies with listening to those who have faced down trauma and lived to tell the tale. And we make the world safer to share and shed the armor needed to survive by being more trauma-informed.
Inspired by principles outlined by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), this 90 min class will provide a brief overview of the 4 R's of Trauma Informed Care:
- Realizing the widespread impact of trauma
- Recognizing how trauma shows up in ourselves & others
- Responding with trauma-informed practices
- Resisting retraumatization
This class is designed specifically for those who want to create safer spaces for friends, family and coworkers. You will learn how to reduce shame and retraumatization, shifting our practices and beliefs so we can channel our resilience into meaningful change and reconnection.
Trigger warning: General descriptions of certain types of trauma including common shaming responses.
