Residents of the following towns are welcome to drop off their household hazardous waste at this event: Barkhamsted, Canaan/Falls Village; Colebrook; Cornwall; Goshen; Hartland; Harwinton; Litchfield; Morris; New Hartford; Norfolk; North Canaan; Salisbury; Sharon; Torrington; Winchester.

Will there be a long line/wait time?

We find that the longest line and wait time occur at the beginning of the event, as folks tend to show up an hour to 30 minutes early. We encourage participants who do not wish to wait to avoid the morning rush and plan to drop off items after 9:45/10:00 AM.

Do I have to unload my own items?

Accepted Answer

No - participants must remain in their vehicles at all times. Paid staff will unload your items for you.

I only have a couple of items, can I put them on my passenger or back seat?

No, all materials must be placed in the trunk, cargo area, or the bed of a truck.

I have materials that won't be accepted, what can I do with them?

Accepted Answer

The CT Department of Energy & Environmental Protection's RecycleCT website has an extensive search feature on their home page where you can type in a material and it will tell you how and where you can dispose of almost any material. www.recyclect.com
