About this event

Health • Personal health

This circle is a response to a cultural gap — one where perimenopause is often dismissed, underdiagnosed, or reduced to a purely medical event. In truth, this is a transformational time that touches every aspect of life: our mental health, relationships, sense of self, sexuality, and spirit.

Here, we honor it all. The anxiety. The grief. The rage. The sacred reclaiming. The wisdom emerging.

This group was created by Courtney Watson, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, who brings over a decade of experience in helping clients navigate identity, intimacy, and life transitions — and who is herself currently walking the path of perimenopause.

Format & Flow

  • Meets once per month on or just before the new moon
  • 6 Sundays from September to February
  • Held in person in Oakland at our Lake Merritt Office
  • 90-minute sessions guided by ritual, reflection, gaining resources and group process

  • Intimacy + Containment: This is a closed group of 6 participants. We ask for commitment to at least 5 of the 6 sessions.
  • Confidentiality: All shares remain within the group container.
  • Decolonized Perspective: This group centers Spirit, community care, ancestral knowing, and internal wisdom — not pathology
  • Spiritual Integration: Mental and spiritual health are woven together alongside of diverse healing modalities for the physical realities of what we are going through. This also group includes elements of altar work, ritual, and reflection rooted in each person's individual ancestry.
