TOPIC
Our July meetup will dive into Dr. Dale Bredesen’s latest book--The Ageless Brain: How to Sharpen and Protect Your Mind for a Lifetime. Whether you’ve read the book or not, come share your thoughts and learn practical strategies for dementia prevention.
Let’s discuss his updated program and explore where we can put more of it into practice. Depending on interest, discussion may include:
- Focus on Prevention: Dr. Bredesen’s shift toward emphasizing prevention (rather than reversal) of dementia symptoms before they manifest.
- The Bredesen 7: Strategies for diet, exercise, sleep, stress resilience, toxin reduction, cognitive stimulation, and targeted supplementation. Hope our meetup provokes an “aha” moment on another step you would like to take to boost your brain health.
- Health Detective Work: Bredesen’s dozen pivotal biomarker tests. New blood tests for the early detection of neurodegeneration. (FDA just cleared the first Alzheimer’s blood test on May 19th.)
- Commonly Recommended Treatments: Bioidentical hormones, oral health treatments, Herpes outbreak suppression, more expansive approaches to sleep apnea, Kaatsu, HBOT and EWOT oxygen treatments, and photobiomodulation. Dr. Bredesen acknowledges how other additional treatments are “experimental”, “unproven”, or “difficult to provide”.
- Practical Implementation: Navigating financial and practical barriers. Prioritizing what seems to be the most needed and most accessible parts of the protocol.
- Criticism: Reviewers are now calling his 2025 lifestyle program “not revolutionary,” despite that Dr. Bredesen’s initial pioneering publication “Reversal of Cognitive Decline: 100 Patients” just seven years ago was doubted as even being possible. Was a recent New York Times article fair?
Our meetup will be a chance to connect with others who work to stay sharp and vibrant. The review will be an opportunity to remind yourself about the many facets of the program and/or learn practices for better brain health. Feel free to express your support, skepticism, and questions about Dr. Bredesen’s ideas, no prior reading required.
