Holiday Tale for Two 2025

Celebrate the magic of the season with the Virginia Beach SPCA! Holiday Tale for Two gives children ages 6-13 years old the chance to practice their reading skills, build confidence, and spread kindness to animals - all in a festive, winter-themed setting.

This special December edition includes reading time with shelter animals and a take-home holiday craft. Two time slots are available so families can choose the schedule that works best.

Participants will also be able to choose their reading preference - cats in the cattery or dogs in the kennel. While we do our best to honor everyone’s choice, space is limited, and spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis to keep all animals calm, safe, and comfortable.

How It Works

Children will be placed into one of two groups, each rotating between:
📚 Reading to Shelter Animals (15 minutes)
🎄 Winter/Holiday Craft Activity (15 minutes)

Both groups will experience both stations during the 30-minute session. Each participant can bring their own book or choose from the VBSPCA library. At the end of the session, every participant will receive a festive VBSPCA holiday goodie bag to take home - our little present for our Tale for Two friends!

• 4:30–5:00 PM

Who Can Participate

• Children ages 6–13
• Space is limited to ensure calm, safe interactions for our animals
• All participants must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (not included in participant count)
