This workshop requires no prior printmaking experience. Spend an evening learning about block printing and making your own holiday (or non-holiday) cards and prints for your friends and family! Tricia will start with a discussion and demonstration, then guide you through the process of selecting an image or design, carving a block, and finally printing it with ink onto cards and/or various types of paper. Bring your block with you at the end of the workshop to continue creating at home.
Cost is $25 per person, and all materials will be included for participants:
- one 4x6 rubber block to carve
- sketching paper and pencils
- carving and printing tools (cutters, brayers, rollers, ink, trays)
- blank greeting cards and paper
Participants do not need to bring anything, but may find it helpful to arrive with some ideas and inspiration for designs, including photos.
About the instructor: Tricia is a self-taught painter, comics creator, and printmaker. She is the manager of The Notch Hostel and a former high school and college-level teacher. She has over a decade of experience making block prints, and wishes to foster a comfortable and fun art-making atmosphere for people with all levels of experience.
