Holiday Ornament Turning

Celebrate the season with this festive woodworking class where you’ll turn two custom holiday ornaments using a wood lathe and beginner-friendly carbide turning tools. In this hands-on class, you’ll create one elegant finial-tip ornament and one classic Christmas tree ornament—perfect for decorating your own tree or giving as heartfelt, handmade gifts.

What You’ll Do:

· Select your turning blanks from a variety of high-quality domestic hardwoods

· Drill and glue brass tubes into your blanks using a drill press and adhesive

· Mount blanks onto a lathe using a pen turning mandrel

· Shape each ornament using Rockler’s easy-to-use carbide turning tools

· Sand and smooth your ornaments

· Apply a festive red, green, or natural finish for a seasonal touch

· Unmount your finished pieces and assemble them using a Rockler Pen Press

· Ages 14+ — minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
