Holiday Handbuilding Pottery Class

In the 5-week class, you’ll explore slab-built and coil techniques and have 4 functional pottery pieces at the end to give away to family/friends (or keep for yourself).

Class Schedule

Classes will begin on Nov. 13 and be held every Thursday thru December 17 (we will not meet the week of Thanksgiving). Class starts each night at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.

Week 1 (Nov. 13): spoon rest/ring dish

Week 2 (Nov. 20): to-go coffee mug

Week 3 (Dec. 4): chip and dip set

Week 4 (Dec. 11): flower vase

Week 5 (Dec. 18): glaze completed work

Join new MakerSpace instructor, Kelly Long as she guides you through the step-by-step process of making these projects, including how to customize them with texture and embellishments. No pottery experience necessary.

About Your Instructor

Kelly has been making pottery for the past 15 years. Her work is handbuilt and glazed using terra sigillata with a patina finish to enhance the textures she stamps into her clay. Kelly has taught handbuilding classes at Clayworks and throughout the Charlotte community. As much as she enjoys making pottery, she loves teaching it even more. It makes her feel like a proud mom whenever her students create something they are excited about.

Pottery pieces not picked after 30 days will be discarded.

Class may be canceled due to low enrollment in which case a full refund will be issued.

Refund Policy:

• Transfers to another class follow the same refund rules as your original date.
• 14+ days before the first class: Full refund.
• 7–13 days before the first class: Refund minus a 50% administrative fee.
• Fewer than 7 days before the first class: No refunds.
• Seat transfer: If you find a replacement who pays for and takes your seat before the first class begins, you are eligible for a full refund.
