About the Class
Lock it! Twist it! Double dip it!
Are you a sharps enthusiast looking to level up? Come learn how to engage in risk-aware consensual k!nk practices regarding advanced needle play in "NEEDLES 201” led by Oran Julius & Beau Flex.
In this workshop, we will review various creative applications of piercing play, including demonstrating techniques in a live demo. Following the demo, there will be time for questions before participants will be given time to practice some of the techniques they learned under supervision from Oran & Beau.
Please bring your needle kit, including a sharps container! We will provide some materials, like zip ties and thread, but you must bring your own sanitizing supplies, needles, and sharps containers. Gloves, pup pads, and paper towels will be available.
Please bring your own EXPERIENCED sharps bottom to practice on if you are able. You are welcome to come solo, but be prepared to practice on yourself or only listen & watch. We'll do our best to help facilitate pairing of folks who come alone, but we cannot guarantee anyone a bottom to practice on! Bottom only tickets are available for $10. All attendees need a ticket.
What people will learn/takeaway. Participants will leave with knowledge about how to engage in advanced sharps play with needles from a risk-aware and consensual k!nk lens.
Specific takeaways will include how to:
- Piercing in higher risk locations
- Create a needle ‘button’ of overlapping piercings
- Double or triple piercings with the same needle (‘dolphin dips’)
- Twisting insertion
- Needle Locking
- Predicament play with needles
COVID Safety
COVID-19 is still prevalent and provides risks to many folks, most significantly those with already marginalized identities (including your facilitators!).
To make this space more accessible, all attendees must wear a KN95 mask or something of similar quality. Please ALSO take a COVID test if you have access to one. Free tests can be obtained at NYC Health and Hospitals and The Nonbinarian bookstore.
Price Transparency
The full fee for this workshop is $40. The full fee reflects the true costs of running the event, including supplies and compensating facilitators for their labor. If you are able to afford a full price ticket without experiencing financial hardship, please choose this option. Those who cannot afford a full fee ticket are welcome to pay what they can on the sliding scale of $20-$35. If you are attending as a bottom only, there is a $10 ticket. All attendees need to have a ticket.

FAQs
FAQ: what should I bring?
A KN95 Mask (or similar) and your needle kit (including a sharps container)! We will provide some materials, like zip ties and thread, but you must bring your own sanitizing supplies, needles, and sharps containers. Gloves, pup pads, and paper towels will be available. You might also want to bring a notepad and something to write with.
*NOTE: If you want to try locking, you will need to bring two different size gauges of hypodermic needles, 2 units apart (i.e. 18 & 20)
FAQ: any skill pre-requisites? (i.e., is this for beginners, advanced, everyone?)
Moderate-Advanced skill level. This workshop presumes you already know basic safety measures and technique for needle play.
We don't recommend this class for anyone who has a fear of blood. This skill also might be hard (but not impossible) to top for if you have difficulty with your fine motor pincer grasp.
FAQ: what should I wear?
Whatever makes you feel good! If you plan to practice receiving needles on any part of your body, please wear something you can easily remove/lift/pull down to expose the part(s) where you want to receive.
Folks are welcome to be as dressed or undressed as they'd like while practicing.
FAQ: can I attend solo, or do I need to come with a partner?
Please bring your own EXPERIENCED sharps bottom to practice on if you are able (bottom-only tickets are available for $10). You are welcome to come solo, but be prepared to practice on yourself or only listen & watch. We'll do our best to help facilitate pairing of folks who come alone, but we cannot guarantee anyone a bottom to practice on!
