Movable books--books with moving parts beyond pages, like pop-ups--really encourage readers to engage with their ideas actively, thoughtfully, and even playfully.

While we often think of such books as solely for children, they've been around for centuries and were first designed for scientific calculations.

In this talk, Gene Kannenberg Jr. will present a brief, illustrated history of movable and pop-up books.

He'll also lead a tour through some of the more impressive examples from his extensive collection of these uniquely exciting, informative, and entertaining idea machines for all ages.
