About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us in the annual Highbridge Bat count.

Somerset Bat Group have all the tech to detect, record and identify which bats are close by.

Each bat species has its own distinctive echolocation sound using clicks and squeeks, this can not be heard by humans but with the use of clever technology we can locate which bats are in our neighbourhood, adding to a national database.

You will get the opportunity to learn more about these amazing flying mammals and spend the evening with us searching for and recording those that we find.

We start with a short talk and equipment training from The Somerset Bat Group and then we get the opportunity to walk to different areas of Highbridge using the equipment to find and identify the bats.

Will we spot a rare bat?

Talk and equipment training starts at 8.45pm please arrive a little early to ensure a timely start

Parking a Bank Street Car Park is free after 6pm

This is a free session and children are welcome with a responsible adult

The session should end around 10.30pm
