About this event

Join West End Synagogue for 2025/5786 High Holy Days.

    All are welcome!

We are delighted to invite you to our celebration of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur 5786/2025, which will commence in the secular calendar on the 22nd of September, 2025. This year, our theme for the High Holy Days is “At One: Reckoning Within, Reconnecting Beyond.”

As we continue to face these immensely difficult times, the challenges and opportunities of the Days of Awe are more important than ever. This is the season to take stock of how we can do better – for ourselves, for our loved ones and for our whole community.

In order to accommodate all, we are looking forward to gathering at the Fourth Universalist Society on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Please read on for important information about how you can join us!

Services: At the Fourth Universalist Society at 160 Central Park West. Services will be hybrid/multi-access (on Zoom and in person) for members in good standing and for guests who have purchased tickets. We will also have a late afternoon picnic in Central Park on the afternoon of 2nd Day Rosh Hashanah open for members and guests. Schedule is below:

    Schedule:

    • Sep 22 Monday at 6:30pm - Erev Rosh Hashanah service
    • Sep 23 Tuesday at 10:00am - First Day of Rosh Hashanah & Tashlich (10am Morning Service, 11:15am Torah Service, 12:45pm Musaf, 1:45pm-ish Tashlich following services -- walk to the Oak Bridge in Central Park)
    • Sep 24 Wednesday at 10:00am - Second Day of Rosh Hashanah & Tashlich (10:00am-1:00pm, followed by 3:00pm in-person intergenerational Rosh Hashanah picnic with DIY Tashlich option)
    • Oct 1 Wednesday at 6:15pm - Kol Nidre service
    • Oct 2 Thursday at 10:00am - Yom Kippur (10:00am Morning Service, 11:15am Torah Service, 12:45pm Musaf, 2:00pm break, 5:00pm Mincha & Avodah, 6:30pm Neilah, 7:16pm Tekia Gedolah)

Tickets: Suggested contributions (donations) from $36 to $360 per guest for all days, based on your hybrid option and what you can afford. Our guideline is below:

    • $360 if you are able to help SUBSIDIZE others
    • $180 our REGULAR price
    • $90 ZOOM ONLY or if you’re joining us for the FIRST TIME
    • $54 if you are a STUDENT
    • $36 if you have LOW or NO income

We welcome everybody, regardless of financial situation. Donations can be paid here with credit/debit card or PayPal. A 2.5% fee will be added by Eventbrite.

Membership: This is a great opportunity to become a West End Synagogue member: your High Holy Days donation can be deducted from your 2025 membership dues (currently at $500 for members who join between July 1 and High Holy Days). New members also pay only 50% of their fair share dues in the second year (2026) — with a minimum of $750, which already includes High Holy Days tickets. Click here to learn more about membership.

Zoom access: After you enter your donation amount, provide your payment information and answer some simple questions, you will receive an Eventbrite confirmation email, and will be automatically registered on Zoom for services. In the confirmation email you will find instructions on how the guests in your party should register on Zoom. A few days before High Holy Days, each registered guest will receive a Zoom email with the link to join services.

Children's and Family Programming: We will have opportunities throughout the High Holy Days for children and teens to gather for prayer, community, and creative learning. Please see the below schedule for specific offerings and reach out to school@westendsynagogue.org for specific questions.

    • Sep 23 Tuesday at 10:00am - First Day of Rosh Hashanah (10:00am Crafts & Games, 11:30am Family Service & Lunch, 12:30pm-1:30pm Kids programming)
    • Sep 24 Wednesday at 3:00pm - Second Day of Rosh Hashanah (3:00pm Intergenerational Picnic)
