Hidden Rivers Showing at UNG
Ten years in the making, Hidden Rivers is Freshwaters Illustrated’s newest feature film that explores the rivers and streams of the Southern Appalachian region, North America’s most biologically rich waters. The film follows the work of conservation biologists and explorers throughout the region, and reveals both the beauty and vulnerability of these ecosystems.
UNG Biology Professor Dr. Andrew Taylor and his fisheries research lab are excited to show this film and bring awareness of our amazing local freshwater fauna. Dr. Taylor’s students are currently collaborating with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, The Nature Conservancy, Limestone Valley Resource Conservation and Development Council, and Dalton State College to restore habitat connectivity for the federally threatened Trispot Darter.
As a bonus, several local environmental organizations will be represented prior to the film, providing opportunities for environmental education, community engagement, and networking.
