Heroes in the Making: Figure Exhibit and Workshop
Overview
For centuries, handmade Black dolls have been more than just play things. They have been symbols of childhood, representation, and resilience (link leads to an article). This Black History Month, West Atlanta Watershed Alliance honors the creativity and resourcefulness of our Black/African ancestors demonstrated by the fabric crafts they created.
Join us and come create your own hero! Bring your family to the Outdoor Activity Center on February 7 from 12 PM to 2 PM and step into a world of inspiration and imagination and experience our historical and iconic doll and action figure exhibit curated by our very own Evonne Blythers and Darryl Haddock.
After exploring the exhibit, youth will bring their own ideas to life and create their own figure to take home using upcycled fabrics and other materials.
This event is open to youth of all ages and backgrounds. Please plan to stay with your youth for the duration of the program. See you soon!
