Step into a world where superheroes and supervillains come alive at our spectacular fall event, "Heroes and Villains: SUPER POWERED," presented by WellSpan Health. Join us at MarketView Arts in downtown York for a night of enchantment and intrigue, all for a great cause.

Indulge in an evening of delightful surprises where every corner reveals new wonders, including:

  • Whimsical caricatures capturing your essence by uber talented Caricature Artist, Rafael D’Arcangelo
  • Capturing magical moments with photo prints from SnapShot Photobooth

  • Uncovering your fortunes with tarot card readings by Gillian Pearl

York Literacy Institute provides classes for adults in York County who struggle with reading. In addition, we have classes to instruct students as they work to pass their  HISET/GED exam and  for those looking to earn their High School Equivalency credential in the state of Pennsylvania. The HiSET® test is now available at York County Literacy Council. To register for testing (paper based) or for more information about HiSET, visit www.hiset.ets.org.

Health literacy, computer literacy, financial literacy, and workplace literacy are also taught in classes and through workshops. Professional Human Resource leaders from our community provide workshops on “What Employers Are Looking For” including soft skills.  We train volunteer tutors to provide one-to-one literacy training for adult students. We teach both native born adults as well as English as a Second Language Students.  It is estimated there are approximately 40,000 adults in York County who are functionally illiterate. YLI services are free and confidential.
