Here You Are: creating and connecting with creation is a community listening workshop for exploring and expressing meaningful connections to place. Led by Sarah Ens and Jami Reimer, with art demonstrations/hands-on making by Karen Cornelius and Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk.
Meet at MHC Gallery to explore the three unique art exhibitions that together make up our Climate Communion exploration: Wild Beauty at Risk by Karen Cornelius, Through the Layers of Time by Eveline Mangin Mauws & Yvette Cuthbert, and Here You Are Singing by Sarah Ens and Jami Reimer.
Through the course of the evening, writer Sarah Ens will lead us through several journaling-type exercises designed to help you express your relationship to landscape and creation. Weather-permitting, sound artist Jami Reimer will lead us on a community deep listening exercise on a walk through Assiniboine Forest, to explore how sound impacts our sense of place. Throughout our journey additional artists will join us to share how they “listen” through drawing, paint, and photography.
Leave with your individual artworks and much inspiration, with a deeper connection to place and landscape.
Please note: participants should come prepared with a notebook/sketchbook, pencil(s) and supplies to spend time outdoors in Assiniboine Forest (such as insect repellent and sturdy shoes)
