Event description

Description

Facilitated by Robb Feldhaus.

Gestalt Therapy is a time-honored path of personal development, based firmly in the practice of radical here-and-now awareness. Moment to moment, our lives begin anew...IF we have the freedom to let go of the conditioning of the past, as well as our fears of the future. (Two big if's!) Then we can take a fresh look at Reality. Through the discipline of coming back, over and over, to our naked present awareness, we can free ourselves of our usual assumptions (which keep us stuck in unfulfilling old patterns). Then our true, spontaneous selves can begin to appear, springing as if out of a creative void at the center of us.

This is an experiential class, and not a therapy group. Yet, the emphasis is on real-time lived experience in class, rather than intellectual knowledge. In the class, we will play with many of the classic Gestalt "experiments" in freeing up awareness. We'll grow in our ability to inhabit the body, access and express feelings, and learn to think in "un-stuck" new ways which liberate the person into a freer way of living.

Personal sharing will be encouraged, and a level of deepening in our shared experience of each other will be fostered. Students will be encouraged to open up according to their comfort level, but everyone's limits will be carefully respected. A space will be held in which sacredness of each of us human persons is reverenced! You are most welcome to join us in this profound yet playful experiment.

Gestalt is one of the most important branches of humanistic psychology, which places humane values at the center of psychological work. We place a premium on creativity, authenticity, loving relationships, and freedom from authoritarian prescriptions for living. It's about the liberation of the human spirit by learning to "lose your mind and come to your senses," and trust the promptings of the inner self. We carry a lot of (non-intellectual) wisdom within us--this class is about recognizing that wisdom and letting it lead us a bit more than usual! Please contribute your unique divine human-ness to this six-week class!

Please note: This is an experiential educational experience, and is not intended as therapy
