Herban Legends is a sacred, intergenerational herbal hike and cultural teach-in centering melanated communities. This is the first-ever installment of a seasonal outdoor experience created by the Entheogen Melanin Collective (EMC), blending herbal literacy, ancestral storytelling, and land-based learning. Join facilitators Quontay “Q” Turner (Emerald City Plant Shop) and Michael Del Rio (The Farm School) for a guided hike rooted in remembrance, reciprocity, and reconnection

What to Expect

  • A grounding opening circle + land acknowledgment
  • Guided hike with plant & fungi ID pit stops

Who can attend this event?

How difficult is the hike?

This will be a slow-paced, accessible walk with frequent stops for plant identification, storytelling, and reflection. It is family-friendly and not strenuous.

What should I bring?

Where will we meet?

We’ll gather at a designated spot at Blue Hills Reservation. A confirmation email with the exact meeting location and parking details will be sent to all registered participants

Is there a cost?

This event runs on a sliding scale donation ($10–$40 suggested). No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Contributions go toward supporting future EMC programming and Indigenous solidarity efforts.

Will there be food or refreshments?

During the hike, we’ll share an herbal tea circle as part of our reflection. After the walk, participants are invited to a plant-based after party where we’ll continue the conversation, share food, and build community.

What happens if it rains?

This is a rain-or-shine event (unless there are dangerous weather conditions). If extreme weather is expected, we will notify participants of any changes by email.

Can I bring my children?

Yes! Children are welcome. Please note that parents/guardians are responsible for supervising their children throughout the walk.

Are pets allowed?

We ask that pets stay at home so that the group can stay focused and grounded in the learning and reflection.
